Artist Deck of Cards
Every year for the past four years I have spent one month of the year doing a dog illustration everyday. Last year I made a project out of it and designed a deck of playing cards - something I've wanted to do forever!
I have only printed a very limited run of 50.

To get your hands on some you can find them in my online store here.
I wanted to have a good mix of dogs but I liked the idea of keeping them in their groups so to speak. The Clubs included dogs from the Hound and Sporting dog groups. The Ace is an Italian Greyhound, the Queen is an Afghan Hound while the King and Jack are sporting dogs being a Weimaraner and a Springer Spaniel.
I also had fun sneaking in little surprise illustrations on some of the numbers cards.
I chose dogs from the Companion group for the Hearts suit. A Giant Poodle for the King (though it should have been a King Charles Cavalier), a Cavoodle for the Jack, a Lhasa Apso for the Queen and a Papillon for the Ace - I even snuck a bunch of other companion dogs as mini illustrations including a Pomeranian.
To get a preview of the full deck check out this little clip from my Instagram:
The suit of Spades were of the Herding or Terrier dog groups and feature a Briard, a Corgi, a Jack Russell and a Yorkshire Terrier amongst some other fun illustrations on the numbers.
I had so much fun creating these and the packaging for it.
I hope to work on more fun projects like this for Hound Town in the future!

They make a great gift - and for a super reasonable price!
If you're interested in my process you can watch a time-lapse below of one of the illustrations from sketch to final image. I may even follow up with a more detailed visual of the working behind it all in a future post.
xx thanks for following the journey!
